What using Archaeolet means

Reading archaeolet.de means you accept these terms as they apply to a site about German archaeology, prehistoric Europe and archaeology lectures. They are short and written for ordinary readers. Questions can go to [email protected].

General information, not professional advice

Articles are general information and the operator’s interpretation of published sources. They are not legal, heritage-protection or valuation advice. Interpretations of prehistoric sites change as new evidence appears, so treat any reconstruction or date as the best current reading and not as final. If you find an object or suspect a site, do not dig; report it to the competent state heritage authority, since rules on finds and metal detecting differ between regions. Summaries of lectures reflect our notes and may miss nuance, so consult the speaker’s own work where it matters.

Ownership of content

The text, layout and original graphics on Archaeolet belong to the operator or are used with permission. Museum photographs and drawings mentioned remain the property of their owners. You may read, quote a short passage with a clear credit, and share the address of a page. Republishing full articles or using them for profit requires our written agreement.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break into the site, flood it with automated requests, spread malicious code or send spam through it. Do not use it to promote illegal trade in antiquities or to share the exact locations of unprotected sites with the aim of looting. Access may be blocked for anyone who puts the site or other readers at risk.

Your messages

If you email a correction, a topic idea or a question about a dig, you are telling us the content is yours to send. You allow us to use the idea to improve Archaeolet, with no duty to reply or publish.

Advertising, sponsorship and outside links

The site may in future carry advertising, sponsored content or affiliate links, and any such material would be labelled. Articles may point to museums, excavation reports, university pages, ticket offices for exhibitions or books on prehistory. Those sites sit outside the control of Archaeolet, and we cannot vouch for their accuracy, opening times, prices or availability.

Warranties and liability

Archaeolet is offered as is and as available. As far as the law permits, the operator gives no promise that content is complete, error-free or always accessible, and is not liable for loss arising from reliance on an article or a visit to a site we mention. Nothing here removes rights that you hold by law and that cannot be waived, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes and severability

These terms and the site may be updated whenever needed, and the version on this page is the one in force. Should a court strike out one clause, the others stay in effect.
